A lot tourists join him and take photo with him. But he never smile. :)

They are changing shift. They salute each other before that. :)

Visit to Grand Palace, Bangkok #7

The building of Emerald Buddha can be seen from the other side.

If you are interested in history and architect, there are a lot of things to explore inside the grand palace. I didn't go through any detail of each place.  I just took photo of objects which look nice. :)

Visit to Grand Palace, Bangkok #4

All photos from this post were taken from Emerald Buddha building inside the grand palace.
I think these weird looking birds are protecting the Buddha.

The Emerald Buddha is very small and sitting inside the building. We are not allowed to bring camera inside the building. So I had to take these photos from outside which is actually quite far and low light. I have to zoom all the way to 270mm and hold my breath while taking these photos. I am pretty happy with the photo quality I got.

Visit to Grand Palace, Bangkok #2

Stupas in Thailand look different from Myanmar. Both look beautiful in my opinion.

The wall painting inside the grand palace are interesting. It is well maintained but doesn't look like ancient painting. It look pretty new.

A kitten called Pi Pi (2010-Nov to 2011-Nov-19)

We have our own cats at home and two cats, Pi Pi and her mom, at our shop.  These cats are not stray. Their owner house is 2 building away from our shop.

My sister love the mother cat and used to feed her. After a while, the mother cat never go back to her owner. Always stay at our shop.  During 2010 Nov, she gave birth a female kitten,Pi Pi,  at our shop.  So, we have two cats in our shop. Pi Pi, dumb cat but not deaf, she cannot make a sound "Meow" like other cats but she can hear if someone calls her name "Pi Pi". So poor thing. My sis sent Pi Pi and her mom to Vet for sterilization.

I met Pi Pi during my holiday August 2011.She has a very beautiful eyes (like wearing a spectacles) and really playful. She like to tease her mom, bite slipper and follow when we pass by.  When I taking these photos, I didn't think that this would be my last photo session with her.

Visit to Grand Palace, Bangkok #1

My plan for that day was to visit all the famous pagodas in Bangkok. After having breakfast in hotel, I flagged the taxi and asked -
Me - Grand Palace
Driver - Huh?
Me - Wat Phra Kaew
Driver - Huh?
Me - This one. (Luckily, a photo of grand palace is in the Bangkok map to show him.)

In spite of being a meter taxi, he quoted the price. This is what some taxi drivers in Bangkok do to tourist. But sometimes, it can be cheaper than using meter. Because Bangkok traffic jam is really horrible and unpredictable. I had an experience, stuck for about 30 mins and the meter jumped up to a few hundred Bahts.

The entrance fee for the grand place is 350 Baht per person but free for locals. I think it is ridiculously expensive. I think it was on Saturday and  there were a lot of tourists. It is very clean and a tourist-friendly place. The famous Emerald Buddha (ၿမဘုရား) also inside the grand palace.

Food hunting in Mandalay

I had posted about this stall in (2010). These photos were taken this year 2011-Aug.
So I think I don't need to mention about this stall again.

Bangkok Trip #3

As soon as we arrived hotel, we checked in our room. I booked 1 triple room through Agoda online booking but when I checked the room, it was 1 double room. So I went to reception and talked to her, "Give me one triple room". She looked so impatient and said "No triple room, Later put extra bed". When I kept saying "Give me one triple room" showed voucher to her, she just repeat "No triple room, Later put extra bed".  Actually I should get a triple room according to my booking. It is more expensive than double room with extra bed.

They prioritize walk-in guest and neglect the online booking guest. Very stupid. Since we cannot communicate well, I had to accept that double room for my entire stay (total 8 nights) in Bangkok.

Forget about the bad experience with the staff in the hotel, the hotel is conveniently located among the shopping malls, night market and wholesale clothing market. I saw a few guests (clothes re-seller) use this hotel as a storage place for their clothes which bought from nearby wholesale market. Let me explore the market next day.

It was around 7:30pm and dinner time. We put our luggage inside the room and walked toward the night market.

First meal in Bangkok - I think this noodle costs 40 Baht. It is similar to Myanmar Shan noodle but the taste is not so great.

Bangkok Trip #2

We reached the airport around 5:30pm. My plan to get to the city is by airport train from airport to city. Unluckily, there is no train schedule for the time we arrived. So I have to hire a taxi to go to the city.

Since it was quite hard to get a taxi at that time, we splitted into two groups and hunted for a taxi. I told the taxi driver the place (hotel) I wanted to go. He quoted me 700 Baht. Finally, we agreed with 500 Baht. So I asked him to fetch another group of (3 persons) at Arrival Hall. It seem like he understood what I was talking and I thought he was driving to Arrival hall.
