Mandalay Palace Moat

When you visit Mandalay, you will definitely see this square shape Moat. It can be seen very clearly from Google Earth, a giant square shape beside Mandalay Hill.  The wall protects the Grand palace which is the last palace/capital of Myanmar Kingdom and occupied by British in 1885.

These photos were taken on different days. I would like to compile into one post for those who love Mandalay.

After taking shower, I walked to the Shwe Zigon Pagoda for some night shots. The pagoda is located opposite to the hotel.

A Trip to Bagan #10 (Bagan Tower)

After having late lunch, I was heading to Bagan Tower which is quite far from Bagan Old Town. It took me more than 30 minutes bicycle ride to reach there.

I chose the shortcut which is along the farmland, great scenery and lifestyle of villagers but the road is very bad. In some places, I had to dismount and push the bicycle because it was impossible to ride on sand road.

Weekend Cooking #9 (Tofu Nway)

I think it is not difficult to make Tofu nway (so called Boiled Pea powder) but its taste won't be good if you don't know well its recipe. However, I still haven't learnt how to cook. :) This is one of the wellknown Myanmar's favourite delicacies, especially, people in my hometown, Mandalay like to have it for their breakfast.

Orchard Fashion Runway (2012-Mar-17)

This fashion show was very strange. There was no stage for cat walk. Orchard road was closed from 8pm to 10 am for this show. The runway is on the Orchard Road.  :)

A Trip to Bagan #8 (Thabanyu Pagoda & Bu Paya)

Thabanyu Pagoda, I used this photo for one of the South East Asia photo competition.

I think Thabanyu is the tallest pagoda in Bagan. It look quite unique compare to other pagodas in Bagan.

Grill and Beer @ Mandalay

In Mandalay, people like to eat those grills and salads with beer with friend in the evening. There are a lot of this kind of stalls in Mandalay. Most of the stalls are run by local Chinese. Their business start and late evening till mid night.

This is not dinner. It is just an appetizer before dinner :).

A Trip to Bagan #7

Local boy follows tourists to hire him as a guide. I think he is doing hard business because Bagan is so easy to go around without anyone help.

A Trip to Bagan #5

Breakfast of budget hotel was very simple. Banana, Bread, Milk, Coffee and fried eggs.

First, I hired a bicycle again with 2500 Kyats for that day. And then I went to bus station to buy ticket to Mandalay 4500 Kyats as of Aug-2010.

After buying bus ticket to Mandalay, I started my full day exploration in Bagan old town.

A Trip to Bagan #4

Damanyangyi Pagoda, I really like the structure of this Pagoda. It looks very unique.

The tallest one in this photo is called "Shwe San Daw Pagoda".  A lot of tourists waiting there for the sunset. I had running out of time and missed that opportunity to go there.
