Bawdi Ta Htaung & Shwe Gu Ni Pagoda, Monywa

After visiting Giant Standing Buddha, we were heading to Monywa town. On my way, you found this place where a lot of Buddha statues are lining up. This area is called "Baw Di Ta Htaung" what I understand is thousand of Buddha statues but the taxi told me that the number of statues have reached 10 thousand.

I am not sure Monywa has a lot of Thanakha tree or not. But I saw a lot of Thanakha vendor in front of Shwe Gyu Ni Pagoda. The vendor were so desperate. As first the quoted 8000 kyats for 5 pieces for Thanakha. However, when we were about to leave the price drop until 1500 kyats. How funny? :)

Here are the photograph which I took at Shwe Gu Ni Pagoda.

You can purchase Monywa's signature food, salted peanut. It is very tasty and not expensive. Burmese people like to eat this peanut while drinking beer.
